Welcome to a new way of living, a new way of relating to other human beings, nature, life, and the world!

We are a conscious living community in the beautiful province of Castelo Branco in Portugal and our mission is to remember...

We are not working with nature, we are nature. So working together with nature means remembering our natural state. When we remember that we are as much part of this Earth and the Universe, as every atom in our body is part of us (and with that, part of the universe) we also remember that life flows through us like it flows through all living things. â€‹

We are Adam, Sabrina, and Dana. We are the core community members of Avalon and this stunningly serene valley is our home. Together with the land, we are co-creating this community and slowly building our dream together. Let us tell you about it...

The Vision of Avalon

Started in 2021 by Adam as an off-grid School of Nature project we now are dreaming big! and this is our vision:

Avalon is a refuge from the hectic society most people know, a place to slow down and remember your nature, and a project for new ways of living. â€‹

CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY
We are building a community of people who are constantly willing to grow, evolve, and learn with and from each other. We do this by constantly improving the way we communicate, relate to each other, state our needs and desires, and live in a democratic way where everyone has equal rights. (read more about our Values here).

The Avalon community is built up out of permanent residents, the core community, and people who visit for shorter or longer periods. At present Sabrina, Adam, and Dana make up the Core Community and are welcoming people to come and stay if they resonate with the ways of Avalon, want to remember their natural state, come to recharge from city life, are excited to build and learn, and bring their specific skills to exchange for ours.

In our community, we learn about communication, compassion, stating our desires, and setting boundaries. We are inclusive, understanding, and respectful of every individual process, yet we work together to help each other bring out the best in ourselves and thrive as a group.

We remember our (spiritual) nature and live accordingly, meaning we understand energy and the Universal Laws and actively work with them. We honor the Great Mother who nurtures us and treat her with the greatest respect so she can keep doing so and we help people remember their Divinity so that we can move towards a state of harmony and Oneness.

SCHOOL OF NATURE
Spending time at the beautiful Valley of Avalon means remembering. Being so immersed in nature makes you remember that you are, in fact, not IN nature but that you ARE nature. That you are part of a bigger organism that lives and evolves with you as a fraction of it that is just as essential as all the other parts and that when we work in harmony, all things come into flow.

Living this way means remembering the cyclical nature of our planet, the seasons each bring their treasures and challenges and the cycles of the day remind us of our natural rhythm of acting and resting. The best way to learn is to come and experience it yourself. Let Mother Nature be your teacher.

HOLISTIC RETREAT CENTER
The longer-term vision includes expanding our community to become a holistic retreat center. With our unique qualities and skills, we can offer a range of immersive experiences and healing modalities like:
- Spiritual (relationship and 1-on-1) coaching (Dana)
- Yoga (Adam)
- Tantra Massage Therapy (Dana and Sabrina)
- Tantra Workshops (Dana)
- Thai Massage (Adam)
- Reiki (Sabrina)
- Permaculture workshops (Adam)
- Natural building workshops (Adam)
- Other workshops and crafting (Sabrina and Dana)

When we have the facilities to host and run courses and natural retreats we will invite people to host events and retreats at Avalon so we can share and pass on our knowledge with each other, whilst recharging in one of the most beautiful natural surroundings and sharing a space with like-minded souls.

Living in a community works best when we share some basic values that help us be in harmony with each other and the abundance of life around us:

Values heart.png

Kindness and consideration help us to re-connect to our collective consciousness. When we share what we have and help each others where and when we can (setting boundaries is also an act of self-love that needs to be practiced) we remember that we are all connected and thrive on the well-being of the collective.

Truthful, open, and honest communication teaches us to learn from and with each other and get to know ourselves better, state our desires, and regularly check in with ourselves and each other on how we are in a specific moment.

Acceptance and Compassion are important cornerstones for us to fully embody our essence without shame. When we learn to take off our masks and show our true selves;  a vulnerable work in progress with strengths and imperfections that are all welcome.

Living in and in co-creation with nature means to re-connect to our roots, to re-member that we are not a separate species but that we are just as much part of nature as the elements, plants, and animals around us. It means getting back in tune with the cycles of nature, back into our circadian rhythm, and working with materials and plants that live with us.

Zero waste living or at least making a serious attempt to get as close as possible means to try and re-use, re-cycle and act consciously when using the resources that Mother Earth provides us with.

Active participation for us means that everyone is on the same page about their contribution to the community as a whole. If we all proactively participate in meeting the project's and each other's needs, we all thrive.

We are attempting to live according to a circular economy model. Instead of following the linear economic model, which is based on a take-make-consume-throw-away pattern, we share, lend, reuse, repair, refurbish, and recycle existing products and materials as long as we can. By producing and consuming in a conscious way we try to reduce waste to a minimum while stimulating our creativity to come up with more sustainable and smarter ways of living.

Co-living with other species is one of the things we enjoy the most! These are the other six members of our core community!
